    Hi,

    I'm trying to setup a VPN between my house and my office. I'm not particularly familar with VPNs, I just have rough idea of how they work. Heres my setup:

    Workstation at office-connected to a DSL Router/Modem.

    Home: Computer hooked up to FiOS Modem.

    I want to setup a VPN that I can remotely log into from my home computer. What device should I get? Can I use a client installed on my home computer to log into it?

    Thanks,

    Scott

    Pc Anywhere & Remotley Anywhere both have remote & encryption.
    But if you want a VPN Hamachi was the easiest to setup & free, but they've been bought by Log Me In, they still have a free service.

    or Google OpenVPN...

    hamachi is a software VPN correct? I'm looking more at a hardware site to site VPN, tunneling a Windows XP computer to another Windows XP computer over the internet. I have no idea what hardware/software is required to do this. Can any body help?

    Go out and get 2 linksys vpn routers then.
    Or take 2 old pcs and run IPCOP
    "IPCop can easily establish VPNs between other IPCop servers. IPCop can also inter-operate with just about any VPN product that supports IPSec and standard encryption technologies such as 3DES. "

    What do I do once I have the two Linksys VPN Routers?

    More specific question: So I have the two VPN Linksys Routers. They are both behind modems, so would I bridge the modems and then configure the routers to tunnel between themselves?

    I'm thinking conceptionally it would work like this: (arrows drawn to show data going from computer 1 to computer 2.)

    Computer1-->VPN Router-->Bridged FIOS-->

    Internet-->

    -->Bridged DSL-->VPN Router-->Computer2

    Thats right correct?

    I was thinking of using the LINKSYS BEFSX41 for my routers...

    Much thanks for all your help. I'm going to use DYNDNS so I can have a static IP on both ends.

    Heres the the plan>>

    Computer w/DYNDNS installed-->VPN Router-->Bridged Modem-->

    TCP/IP/Internet

    <--Bridged Modem<--VPN Router<--Computer with DYNDNS installed

    And then configure the VPNs using the webbased client etc. as described on the Linksys website.

    Will this work?

    Thanks again!
