Everytime I click on the "my computer" icon, when i go into the folder, i have my settings set to "show in groups".
But when i close the folder and come back to it again another time, they're all just lined up in the top left in no order, or grouping, then i have to right-click "show in groups" again.
Anyone know why it's doing this? or how to keep it permanent?

That problem was fixed in SP2. Do you have SP2?

OK, I'll bite... How would that effect the settings of a folder?

Easy. Windows XP can remember 4000 folder view customizations. After that, they do not save. This increases it to 8000. Prior to SP2, it didn't work at all, for the most part.

Ahhh, I see. I mistook that for an actual memory size issue (although I guess it is, to a degree), but it's more of a how many different configurations it will recall. Does that work with SP1?

This problem has plagued Windows almost as long as I can remember.

I tried on several Windows 9 x to increase the folder size, and it never worked.

Admittedly, I've never had this problem yet on XP, but it should never be, Micro$$oft have had more than long enough to fix this.
