Hiya! I'm new to this place. It's cool. I screwed up my computer by deleting too much, formated and am attempting to install from my Windows XP CD. I keep getting "setup cannot copy the file: ocmanage.dll. Any help?

hey mate, how are you trying to install, are you turning off your computer - booting into a disk, and doing it that way?

hey mate - im sorry, i think you missed my post?

lol, i asked you how you were trying to install your copy of xp...

are you putting the disk in - turning off your computer, and booting into your disk to install - or are you putting the CD in and double clicking on the cd setup file ?

I had the problem before and it turned out to be faulty memory. I suggest you run MemTest 86+: http://www.memtest.org/

Thanks. I turn on the computer, put in the cd, and it shows, "Press any key to boot from CD". I do, everything is fine on installation until I get to 39% installed. This message is the first to appear.

if you don't get anything flash up as wrong from memtest which collinsl suggested then.. im afraid it sounds like the disk you've got is either damaged - or you haven't got enough space on your hard drive, have you deleted the allready existing windows partition, u know just after you press and key it asks you where to install, after that did you delete the current installation? because if you did, unfortunately your cd's knackered.

I had a similar problem when trying to reinstall windows a few years ago.

It does sound like a memory problem.

My particular problem was that one of my sticks of RAM had come unclipped slightly from the motherboard - it would load so much, and try to access a bit of the RAM it couldn't and throw a fit :D

run some memtest software as advised.
