Severe lagging while typing\browsing high cpu use

I posted on the malware forum the same thread,
but seems that my logs are ok

I have an hp i7 with windows 7
In the task manager I can see up to 80-99% cpu usage, but doesn't show which process is.

On 16th or 17th May I downloaded gigas of android apps and pc was still working fine, now I have erased them all.
Between 17 and 25 May I went to Italy (I live in USA), and used pc only once.
I used again the pc on 5/28 and all the problems started for no apparent reason
    On 28th I didnt installed-downloaded-run anything
I uninstalled all the browsers, installed chrome that I never had before and the problem is the same.
I think the problem is connected to browsers: programs works fine when the browsers are closed. When I open the browsers or 5 minute everything works ok, after starts the problems.

I had some problems in the past with winows update, I had to install a bunch of them one by one, for the rest everything always worked fine. I think I received a virus or something bad from somud to download the android apps.

There is something I can try to do? I think I have to reinstall all

    Thanks

EDIT: here is the link to my thread on the malware removal forum with the logs

Is your computer fully updated with Critical patches? Is Windows set to auto-update?

Which A/V and antimalware do you use?

    Hi,
    yes, is updated
    I use avg

    I scanned the pc with

    microsoft essential
    avg
    trendmicro
    malawarebyte
    combofix
    spybot
    SAS
    adaware
    mglogs
    mbam

probably something more. They cannot find anything wrong.

Also, how many Antivirus programs do you have installed? Do you have Trend micro AV, or are you just referring to trend micro's hijackthis?

You shouldn't be using both avg and microsoft security essentials at the same time btw.

Multiple anti virus programs will just create a conflict with your pc. You only want one. Malware guide will state this too:

" You must uninstall all but one antivirus program.
If you have multiple antivirus applications installed on your PC, please choose the one you prefer and uninstall all others. Do this now before continuing because you will only be asked to do it later if not done now. This does not mean online scanners. It is only referring to full antivirus applications like McAfee, Symantec, AVG, Avast, AntiVir, Kaspersky, etc.
You must uninstall all but one software firewall.
Only use one software firewall. Running multiple software firewalls is unnecessary and using more than one software firewall on the same connection could cause issues with connectivity to the Internet or other unexpected behavior including excessive use of system resources which will slow down overall PC performance."

Just click on 'CPU' at the top of the column a couple of times and you'll see what processes are running from highest use to lowest. Here's an example:

In Process Explorer > View > Select columns > (Process image tab) and check "Command line" then click OK. It adds the path to the executable so you can tell where the process originates.

    added command line

    just started the lagging again.
CPU Usage btw 60 and 80%

process explorer doesn't show the process that is using the cpu.
All the other process together use less than 30%.

process that using most cpu is processxp64.exe with about 11.5%

I was just reminded by looking at my screenie, it used to be death if Firefox got near 400MB on my old 2GB RAM machine, slowed right to a crawl even though the CPU use was low.

there is an interrupts that I don't understand what is:

    pid N/A
    Private Bytes 0
    working set 0
    description hardware interrupts and DPCs
no company name, no command line
    shows only 4% cpu

you have a lot of google chrome browsers open (chrome.exe). Can you try closing some of them.

Also, do you have this problem with IE/Firefox?

your Chrome browsers look to be using a lot of your computer's resources. And you have at least 5 chrome.exe's open

Also, do you have this problem with IE/Firefox?

I had this problem also with IE/firefox.
I tyought was a browser related problem, uninstalled them and installed chrome that I never had installed before.
I closed all the chrome.exe, restarted and the lagging is still here. A couple of minutes after I restarted chrome (clicked only once, only one tab open, the chrome.exe are again 2 or 3)

Interrupts = DPC's, if you have a very low level, it's fine, means there are no drivers causing the Windows kernel to work hard and the latency stays low.

AVG looks like it's working way too hard at 10%, unless it's running a scan in the background.

Hmm, I just checked my DPC's, running at 8% of yours - looks like you may have a bad driver in there somewhere; download and install/run LatencyMon, click start and leave it a few minutes then paste a screenshot of it please.

    you are right

One or more DPC routines that execute on behalf of drivers running in your system appear to be causing serious problems making your system unsuitable for processing real time audio. You are likely to experience audio dropouts, clicks and pops.
    Time running: 0:03:55

    How I can fix this?

About all you can do for that (nVidia) problem is to uninstall the current version and try a different one - I'm using Version 266.58, as far as I can tell. Make sure you clean out all of the old driver traces before installing a different version.

    solved invidia driver problem,
    now I have problems with acpi.sys a

And this is worst, I'm searching online and acpi seems difficult to solve,
    any suggestion???

Ive lost 3 days with this HP I'm getting crazy!

There is a good program that can check - install updated drivers?

It might be apart of the chipset driver.

support.hp.com, find your HP model, drivers download page, look for chipset.

There are programs, but I wouldn't recommend them to you (they aren't good // do more harm than good in my experience)

ACPI.sys is the default Windows power configuration driver, it should only be running inside System if you check it with Process Explorer with the lower pane set to show DLL's.

Judging by the earlier screenshots, I'd say it is AVG doing this. Download MSE but don't install it yet, download the AVG removal tool but don't run it yet.

Uninstall AVG via Control panel > Add/Remove programs (or whatever it's called this week), reboot when prompted or reboot when it's done. After a reboot, run the AVG removal tool, reboot when prompted. Install MSE, this will auto-scan once updated, wait for the scan to finish, then run LatencyMon again.

i'll laugh if it's just AVG that is so resource hungry.

14592 DPC's down to 3416 and 908 ISR down to 223 is a pretty big drop already, I'd prefer to see the DPC's sub-1000 and ISR sub-100; for comparison, mine are 261 DPC and 63 ISR.

I think removing AVG might only reduce the ISR on NDIS and have little effect on DPC's though - which drivers would affect power configuration/saving (apart from bad ones ;) and Windows settings? Is a poor BIOS having an effect here?

Nazza, in Process Explorer, > Options > Verify image signatures then > View > Lower pane view > DLL's. Wait a few minutes for the verification to complete then highlight System in the upper pane then double-click ACPI.sys in the lower pane, paste up the properties image tab please?

    updated chipset, bios was updated
I have again the problem with the invidia driver (same version than before)
but I downloaded and installed the last one on nvidia and is the same on the hpsupport.com

I'll try to remove avg and will install again mse (I had mse before) and then will run process explorer and will post the image

    thanks a lot

Its few hours everything is working fine,
probably was a problem with AVG. Its weird because I had installed avg for over 1 year and everything worked fine. Thanks a lot for your help

Well, a major player recently seems to have been the multitude of MSFT Updates over the last few months, things that were working fine prior to those updates don't necessarily seem to work as efficiently afterwards, especially those that work close to the Windows kernel, like A/V and firewalls.

Anyway, I'm glad you managed to get it sorted :)
