Severe lock up

when starting to play a movie im am experiencing sever lag and/or lock up, with all files. im using windows media player.

just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before and can tell me if this is a problem with my graphics card or maybe motherboard/ram.

ive run the direct x test and it tested fine, how ever, when i ran 3d mark, it ran at very low fps.

Has it ever worked properly? Old computers can lag video. 3d mark usually will provide low fps as well, but without knowing the HW it's hard to really suggest anything.

Also is the lag through the whole movie. Or just when it starts playing?
