    Hello there MG!

Yesterday I was surfing around doing nothing when my computer all of a sudden froze up, had to turn it off manually since CTRL ALT DEL didnt work (running Win7).
When it booted up again, it told me to insert a proper boot device, and found none of my 4 SATA units.
Okay I thought, lets reboot again and hope for the best.
I got into windows again, got to clicking the start menu when it froze up the same way again.
After that it was a cointoss if windows started or not, and if it did it always froze up when I tried doing something.
Soon after, it stopped posting, no beep, no nothing. This still happens, just that I have to unplug the darn thing for about 5 minutes until it wants to work again. This also meant that I could no longer get windows to start up and BIOS stopped detecting my SATA drives permanently, so no more windows.

I have updated my BIOS to the latest version, this changed nothing.
I have tried plugging my HDDs and CDs to another computer where they work perfectly.
I have switched powersupplies, made no difference,
I can boot with Ubuntu Linux on a USB stick (All USB drives etc works flawlessly), this is where Im at now.
I have tried every SATA port on the motherboard, all SATA settings in BIOS.
I can do everything except something that involves SATA. Sadly enough I have no IDE units that I can put to the test.

My motherboard is an ASUS M3N78-VM.

Losing my hair over this, if someone has had a similar problem, feel free to share!

Sounds like you have a bad MOBO.

You almost certainly have a bad MOBO.:( I recommend this MSI MOBO. I have had bad luck with ASUS MOBOs. They are almost prone to failure.:(
