Okay, I'm trying to share my wireless connection from my laptop through a cable connection to my desktop. For a little info on my network setup, I have a wireless router giving wireless access to the whole house. The router is in another room too far for a cable run to it to be feesible. I need to connect the desktop to the internet for an online class I am taking. I don't know too much about networking, and I have heard that my laptop needs to have the ip address of 192.168.0.1 to share the connection, problem is my router allready has that ip adress. If anyone knows a way around that, or if I can get another access point or something to put in my room to send the wireless connection to my pc, please let me know.

I think the easiest way would be get a wireless card for the desktop..
Unless you really want to get technical and use a crossover from the PC to laptop and do ICS on the laptop..

That's the thing... the desktop is being used for an online redhat class, and the way they have the software to connect to the campus servers set up is I have to use an ethernet connection... And the problem with ics is that it wants to have the 192.168.0.1 ip address, which the router i'm using allready has.
