    Hello,
I am running Vista Home Premium and I have 2 user accounts on the laptop. On is the administrator password protected account and the other is just a standard user account. I have been trying to figure out how to set up the folder sharing so that the standard user account can access, and if so desired change documents in the my documents folder or other folders that I set up sharing on. However, no matter what I do when I access the standard user account I still cannot view the my documents folder that is on the administrator account.
I followed all of the steps from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/...ver-the-network-from-windows-vista-inside-out but that is not resolving the problem for me. Can someone please tell me what I am missing. I did set the other user to co-owner so that can't be the problem.
    Any suggestions???
    Thanks So Very Much

The sharing article you have used is for sharing files over a network rather than sharing files between two users on the same computer. Hopefully someone will come up with an elegant solution but in the meantime two suggestions -

    - Try using the Public folder for shared files rather than My Documents, as that's its purpose, or

    - When working on files for both users, always work on just one of the two user accounts

Well, I guess that explains part of my problem! Thanks!!!

I did find information for using the public folder but I was just hoping that I could access the my documents folder from the main/administrator account while in the standard account and that if changes were made that they would automatically be changed in the other account as well (I know I am asking for alot!)

I did click to make a copy the my documents folder and then I went to c:/users/ "name of the other acct" and pasted it into the documents folder there (but haven't had a chance to see if I can actually view and use those items yet)

I did notice the the standard account looks a bit different when I click on my computer and open it up. When I went to open the c drive I had to right click and open it that way which seemed odd to me as well.

Thanks so Very Much ~ maybe someone else will have some suggestions or simply tell me that what I am trying to do isn't all that easy or even possible.
    Thanks Again!

Also http://www.ezlan.net has a lot of good info. Basically you would right click on the folder, Take the cursor to "Share With", and you will get a menu of "Stop Sharing", a username, or the choice to share with specific people.

You can also do the share through right clicking on the folder, then left click on Properties, then left click on the Share tab, then you will get a window that will open for File Sharing.
