Share relic HP 1200 from Win7 with XP Machine

Greetings,

I know I am probably asking for the impossible, or at least the difficult. Regardless, I am running Win7x64 and would like to share a relic HP 1200 Series PCL 5 printer with another machine running XP.

I am already able to share an HP 5610xi all-in-one printer successfully so at least I know the router/hub/network is working. They (the XP machine) can print to the 5610 and would LIKE to be able to print to the 1200. Both printers go though my machine.

I can print on both printers from my Win7x64 machine.

A smart geek told me there is an issue with Win7x64 sharing to XP, &/or that there is a driver issue with XP (Win7 may have come with the needed driver or I might have found and added them - I forget), and that the problem may be insurmountable.

As a last resort, I post here. Because my MG comrades here often achieve the "impossible," well, at least they have if it is possible ...

So, is this something I can do?

thanx ploder... thanks for the reply and for the link. but, um, sorry, but I'm not sure what to do, nor which machine to do it on.

I can print to both with the Win7 machine, yet the other (XP) machine has not been setup to print to the 1200, just the 5600.

I'm not even sure how I've managed to get as far as I have/am with how little I know about drivers. somehow, it seems like there's always been someone to hold my hand.

Maybe I should be asking "how do I setup the ability to print from a XP machine through a Win7x64 machine to an HP 1200 PCL 5 printer"?
