sharepoint 2007

i am one of those companies that is very limited to additional software to make a product great so i am asking about sharepoint 2007 with moss capabilities. 1. i am building a dashboard using the report site, i would like to show bar graphs or pie charts that ref a TASK LIST i have, is this possible? if i export the list to excel and upload back to my sharepoint i get an error when i try to connect using EXCEL web part on my dashboard site. the problem i see using this is the excel document will not update as users update the task list. any ideas? any suggested web sites to read?
