   needing help setting up home network between 2000 pro and xp pro. I am used to doing this on XP systems at LAN parties, but no one ever has 2000. I am also not able to see any shared folders on the 2000 system.

   Have you tried using the XP machine to make a Network Setup Disk (floppy) that you can use on the Win 2000 machine?
   
   Make sure to turn on File Sharing on both machines.
