What is the purpose of this website?

Plugcomputer.org is the main web resource for the plug application development community. The forums, wikis, and software downloads on the site enable easy software development on the plug platform, and facilitate free and open exchange of ideas and software.

What is a plug computer ?

A plug computer is a tiny, low power server, intended to provide network-based services within the home.

It is an always-on system, and can serve data and applications to computing devices within the home. It can also be a bridge between home computing devices and Internet-based services.

What is the SheevaPlug ?

The SheevaPlug is Marvell’s first plug computer, based on a powerful 1.2GHz Sheeva processor. Its main connectivity is gigabit Ethernet to the network, and USB for peripherals.

What are typical applications for a plug computer ?

The application range is bounded only by the imagination of the developer community. Here are some typical use cases:
