I recently purchased Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2014 for $29.95 from cleverbridge/Creativemark.

I have been using Acronis True Image Home for 4 years, and it has been working fine, but now that I have installed Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2014, True Image backup no longer works. Note that the problem with True Image coincides EXACTLY with the installation of Bitdefender.

After seeing the problem, I researched the issue on the Internet and discovered that MANY people have been having the same problem, going back to at least 2008.

I contacted cleverbridge/Creativemark and requested a refund, since their software has a known compatibility issue with a widely used backup product. Their response was that I should have tested the trial version before buying their product; therefore, no refund.

My response is that cleverbridge/Creativemark should have stated on their website that there are known compatibility issues with Acronis True Image. This is carrying caveat emptor too far.

Terrible, terrible customer service. They should know that I will NEVER buy anything from them ever again, and that I will advise everyone not to do business with them. Also, I would advise MajorGeeks to examine their relationship with cleverbridge/Creativemark, if they have one.

Without doing any research, I know that IOBIT has an Advanced System Care package with the this antivirus (can't remember if it's the Plus version, though). Curious if any users that have this package and Acronis ran into this problem.

Actually, they do offer a trial version, but I naively assumed that since Bitdefender is highly rated and Acronis is a widely used backup program, that the two programs are compatible. I've never before felt the need to run a trial version to test the compatibility of a program. Live and learn.

Apparently there are disreputable software vendors out there. And STUPID! It was only $29.95, and if the company had given me a refund, I would have been happy and would have been willing to try other software from that company, and I would not be talking about them on computer forums. Very short-sighted on their part. I've also disputed the charge with my credit card company, but I'm not optimistic about getting the charge reversed. Buyer beware.

BTW, when I emailed the Bitdefender company about the problem I was having, they recommended that I uninstall Malwarebytes (which runs ONLY on demand) and SpywareBlaster. So, in order to run Bitdefender, I'm supposed to uninstall other programs that protect against malware?

OK, I'm a long time Acronis user, both 2013 and 2014 currently installed on different systems, so if you can point me to the trial version I'm happy to test it for you.

    Indeed, buyer beware!
PS: Some time ago I purchased MBAM Pro and paid to cleverbridge. Anyways, I put my complaints in MBAM's forum and a credit was issued without any problems.

OK, thanks. Might take a day or so but I'll test it.

OK, MSE uninstalled, BitDefender installed and Acronis 2013 backup of my Win 7 system partition has completed and validated without issues. You don't say at what point Acronis fails or which version you have but from this test it appears that the problem you have encountered does not affect everyone.

Is it possible you are running another realtime AV at the same time as BitDefender? This can cause problems.

I have been using Acronis True Image Home 2009 for 4 years, and it has been working fine. The daily backup that used to run in 26 minutes now runs indefinitely, never finishes, and I have to stop the task. Task manager shows that True Image is using approximately 30% of the CPU, but nothing is accomplished.

No, I am not running another realtime AV program, just Bitdefender.

Perhaps in order to use Bitdefender, I would have to buy a new version of Acronis True Image. I think i'll stick with MSE, because I don't want to support a company (Bitdefender) that takes such a cavalier attitude toward its customers, not warning them about known compatibility issues and then refusing to give a refund.

Thanks for testing Bitdefender and Acronis 2013.

Thanks. The first version of Acronis fully compatible with Win 7 was 2011, so using 2009 some problems are to be expected. I know you have been using it successfully so far but it does look as if that's the most likely problem here.
