Can anyone direct me to software that will help me create stand alone (independent of the app that created them) weblinks to include user name and password? I want to build a home page for IE7 and Firefox that simply contains links to all my favorite websites. I want these links to do the dirty work of username and password for me without them being stored by the browser or a password manager. Every site on the web wants us to log in with a username and password. I figure I could make a simple html page with the links in it, copy it to my flash drive and once again could be the laziest keyboader on the net.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    Interesting thread.

I think it's impossible for most sites, because in most cases login information is sent via $_POST request, instead of $_GET (which is transmitted via url, like "showthread.php?t=177730")

    Correct me if i'm wrong.

Also, imho storing such info on flash drive without crypting or password protection is very insecure. I have recently lost my flashdrive, with IM-client on it... Was running home very quickly, to change all the passwords =)) Kind of paranoia, but who knows...

This is good and well-known resource.

But for some reason I haven't succeeded in installing portable firefox, don't remeber what exactly went wrong, maybe something with loading profile, or auto-update, however, i use regular official firefox installation, although loving portable software a lot and always try to use portable versions if it's possible...

Thanks for the OK on the site, I'm going to take a look around to see what interests me. I try so many different softwares I, too, like stand-alones when given a choice.

I have a U3 flash stick that has FF on it from the U3 website but haven't tried it yet. I think MG member dlb uses portable browsers frequently, maybe he'll comment. :)
