Shortcuts wont work

I have a few shortcuts on my desktop to various websites and just recently they wont open anymore. Right click and open doesn't work either. They show the Internet Explorer icon but will not open. Tried doing a system restore and everything was fine. reinstalled some windows updates and now it's happening again. I'm not saying it's an update doing this but seems strange. Only seems to be happening after the latest critical update. Anyone else having this issue or know of it?

 

Have you tried uninstalling the most recent critical update and seeing if the problem still exists?

Have you run updated scans with Ad Aware and Spybot?

 

Yes ran the spyware and adware programs. Didn't uninstall last update only system restore to before it was installed. That seems to starighten it out. I was just wondering if this was a known issue in this last update or what? Hate to not have all my updates.

 

It's not unheard of for updates to break things. But with System Restore, you'll never know if it's that or some other software or some random association or registry problem. Using a sledgehammer to fix a hangnail.
