SHOULD I overclock my computer?

I just bought a compaq (Yes, a crappy compaq) presario sr1820nx. The processer is an AMD Athlon 64 3400. My computer is pretty slow and i'm not sure if it will overheat. Can you tell me should I overclock it? If i could, canyou also tell me HOW to overclock it? Thanks!

Your Compaq's BIOS I'm sure is limited.(OCing CPU & Memory should be done within BIOS)
Prebuilt not so good for OCer's
The PSU will be underpowered for OCing
The memory probably value stuff.
If ya want to get into OCing, IMO ya got the wrong system

Worried about Over Heating, What are your temps now?? Idle & load?

You say system slow:
Upgrade to two Gb of memory
Video card is low end, you can upgrade there, if you dont game no need.
Remove all the prebuilt Compaq crap
You say system is new, for some peoples they quickly fill there system with garbage/spyware/vermit & such, maybe time for total system clean up.

Probably came with Norton too, ditch that "LOL"

 

Hell yea! That thing keeps poping up! I wish I can permently stop it.

 

Uninstall it, Norton can be pain to remove.
Norton can & will slow any puter down

After Norton is gone
I'd suggest using for Anti-virus, Avast or AVG, either free version & for firewall I like Sygate also free.
Run these too, SpywareBlaster & Ad-Aware SE these also free.

Run disk cleanup/Defrag

Your system did it come with restore disk or real OS disk? if restore disk you probably have a ton of other grabage ya dont need, as well as out dated drivers.
