    Dear members:

I just would like to know should i put a failed/failing hard drive (2.5 30gb ibm internal hd) in external enclosure as slave so i can get the data off (its been a month since it has failed) by using a laptop

I thought scientologists knew it all?
    (obscure i know)

anyways even if you enclose it (or dont doesnt matter) the hdd connects through the IDE cable which you would have no method of connecting it to the laptop anyways.

if its *THAT* important consider dropping a rather large dime on software like Ontrack .

I have two enclosures on my desk. Both of them are IDE to USB.

If thats the case, then yes, that would be a very viable way of getting the data off of it.

well i have 2.5 hd and i already have a 3.5 external enclosure (which as 3.5 segate external hd inside) and the 2.5 hd doesnt fit inthe 3.5 external enclosure. so want i want to know, u mean to say right if i have an external enclouser that support usb 2.0 i can just get the data off the failed hd by just putting in the external hd connected to laptop or i need other extra software to get it off or need it to get the data off also?
