shrink wmv

any one know how to shink wmv files

 

convert them into mp3 is probably the best way.

 

That doesn't make sense. wmv is short for Windows Media Video. Why would you change a video into an mp3?

If you meant changing Windows Media Audio files into mp3's, the opposite is true. Windows Media Audio files are smaller than mp3's.

Anyway. You want smaller wmvfiles? Why? wmv's are small and crappy enough as it is.

 

I miss read the statement! I did think it was an audio file not a video.

 

Sorry i didnt make my first post very clear

I have found a new download site(www.hqmovies.net)and when downloading them they come in mpeg format

The problem is i am having trouble putting them on disk because of the size, they will go on as vcd's but are to big for a standard 700 mg disk and cant put them on dvd disk because of the format

I read a forum that explained that i could use windows movie maker to edit and shrink but when saved have turned them into wmv files which read as 560 mg but when put on disk increases to 1.3 meg.

therfor i thought that the best or easy'st way would be to shrink them hence the first post

Afterdawn http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ and Doom9 http://www.doom9.org/ have a lot of info and programs (many are freeware) that should help you

 

Try compressing them in WMM.

 

You might want to try VirtualDub. It will open an mpeg file and you can convert it into an AVI file, which will normally reduce the size, depending on the type of compression you use.

It's also free.
