    Hi-ya, got another prob. Lol.
Not so bad, just wondering where all my drive space has ran off 2.
I used to cling on to what little I had & now that's shrunk on me.
    I'll try & explain...

After all the HAL greif I HAD to re-install SP2 (some1 out there was right just can't see their avatar), was given a new folder in my directory, shifted SOME stuff out of my old folder into the new1 (not much).
Got a load of updates from Microsoft, then proceeded to upgarde to SP3... after witch I then put the WINDOWS LIVE suite back on... & I use a few music prod. tool's.

I used to have about 10-11 GB left. That'd get filled with demo's then put on an external drive, untill it packed up! (Cheer's Buffalo Tech). Now Ive got about 3.5 GB left. :(
    You see my dilemma now?

Drive size total is 37.3 GB

    Docs&Settings (now 3.03 GB)
    ProgramFiles (now 11.06 GB)
    InstallShield Inst. Info.(now 93.5 MB)
    Uninstall Info. (now 0 )
    Win. Update (now 0 )
    WINDOWS (now 2.59) :confused

I think I had about 106-116 prog's in ProgramFiles B4 re-installation, then they disappear from sight when I check Uninstall (Standard & Revo).
    I've got 47 installation's to date.
Do I NEED to remove & re-install ALL Progs?
    Hive's are SWEET, Software key's & sub's are tiny... 4now.
I'm guessing theres stuff I can remove almost everywhere but as to what & where I'm still a bit unsure.

EVERYTHING seems fine but my drive space........ & Progs fail to close properly on shutdown.
Aaarghhhhhhhh!!! It's the twilight zone... :-D Or is it just redundant junk. :confused
I know I've got stuff on there I never had B4.
    Question is...
What CAN I safely remove to........Blah, blah, blah........U know the rest. ;)

    Hope this isn't too long..
    P.s. Veterans tip's gladly welcome. ;)

    Hi

Would run CCleaner and clear all temps, then use Disk Cleanup (right click your C drive and choose properties > Disk Cleanup) and in the More Options tab remove all bar last restore point, so info here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310312

Then disable Hibernation if your using a desktop, click Start > Control Panel > Power Options then the Hibernation tab untick Hibernation and reboot, this will flush the hibernation point, which can take a few GB of space.

Dont know the full story and what you have done on this PC but if a restore or repair install was done then check for Windows.old http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933212

    g'day Binaryfreek
another way of freeing up disk space along with halo's suggestion is in the ccleaner program click on tools then system restore.through here you can manage the amount of system restore points you have. sift through them and delete a few of them.as a guide as to what to keep make sure the ones you keep are ones you know that your computer was working well.myself i keep at the most 1 for each week of the month like the 1st the 10th the 20th and the 30th of each month the rest i delete.this should free up some space on you drive.good luck.

Hello, sorry about the time length. I'd done all that using Ccleaner & Tune-up, it sort of helped. Thanx. :O)

As I've just said to Iwunderdownunder... done that. ;O)
I'd already turned off Hib. mode.
The Windows installers needed a sweep, that was quite big but didn't completely resolve my problem. The compressed .old on the other hand... Ha!!! :O) BIG!
After that I saw a couple of GB back but I keep thinging I can do more.
    Thanx 4 the input.
