Shrunken windows boxes

Please help. About 6 months ago, my Windows message boxes shrunk, cutting off info and text to the right and bottom, or just compressing the info to the point it can't be read. Last December, I ran SFC /SCANNOW, and it seemed to fix the problem; however, the boxes shrunk back after a couple of weeks. I have taken some screen shots if that is helpful. I am using Windows XP (home) SP2 on a Dell Dimension 4600, with a Dell 1800FP monitor. The display is at 96 DPI (Normal), the resolution is at 1024x768, at Highest (32 bit). I'm using Zone Alarm firewall, AVG7.5, Sypware Blaster, Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot-SD, and Spy Sweeper (until 04/03/09).
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, as Microsoft won't even touch this problem unless I pay them, and the only other solution anyone offered was to do a 'repair install'.
