Shut Down error while running Ad-Aware.

Last night I installed and ran Ad-Aware with great success. Now when I try to run it, it gives me an error that shuts down my system. The following error message appears and my system shuts down.

Your system is being shutdown...
The shutdown was iniated by NT authority/system.

This system process c:/windows/system32/services.exe was terminated unexpectadly with status code 0.
I don't know what happened, can anyone help me? The Ad-Aware is the best thing I've seen, and I really want to continue using it. It does work when I do not scan running processes, but I'm afraid I'm missing some infected files when I run it that way.

My system information is the following:

Microsoft Windows XP home addition.

Compaq Presario Intel R celeron (r) cpu 2.70 ghz 248 mb of RAM

Can anyone help me?

 

To stop the shutdown you can type this into the run menu, shutdown -a

 

Before running the Ad-aware?

 

No when ever the shutdown thing pops up.

 

sounds like you have a virus on your machine. More specifically, MSBLAST or SASSER or a variant there of.

I read that, but didn't see anything relating to the error I'm getting. Should I try one of the online scans? My anti-virus software is not picking anything up.

 

Try at least 2 of them.
