    Hi there

Sometimes (not all the time, and i can't figure out a pattern as to when) the machine goes through the shutdown process, but just when it should close completely it stays on blue screen with a frozen pointer. It then doesn't respond to any command. Switching off power and restarting doesn't reveal an improper shutdown.

    Any suggestions welcome.

Running XP Home, SP2 on Celeron D processor.

    Thanks

First thing I'd do would be to put your xp disc in the cd drive, exit it when the install screen comes up, go to run and type sfc /scannow. This makes sure that all the system files are not corrupt. If that doesn't work, right click on the c drive in my computer and go to properties, tools and error checking...check each box and OK .... will need to restart for it to run. Post back with results.

    Thanks Tim

Did both and nothing showed up. Error check showed volume clean. As I say, it doesn't happen all the time, just enough to be annoying and make me wonder.

    Any other ideas?
