Shut down scripts - any experts?

Hi,
this is a weird one -I've been asked to consulate with my peers as to a solution, this is something I have read, but never remembered.

Scenario - Operators turning off mains power without shutting down controlling PC's on a theme park ride. Blue screens result when re-booted.

Need a simple shut down script for windows which the mentally challenged operators can run to quickly shut down the PC's before pulling the mains plug.

O/S Windows and or Linux

Any quick scripts they can try, see if it helps?

do they have access to the power button? you usually can tell it what to do when the power button is pressed, ie. shutdown, instant off, standby, etc. see if you can set it to power down.

you can create a batch file and put it on the desktop or something

but i don't see how that's any easier then just going to start/shutdown. the operator still has to do additional steps beyond turning the power off.
