shutdown

I can't get my computer to shutdown and turn off, when I try it restarts. and the standby is inoperable. I have xp. Can someone help me please

 

as a last resort, hold your computer's power button DOWN for about 5 seconds and it'll shut down.

 

Could you provide some more info. -like what exactly you do to shut down your pc -like, if you go to START>Turn OFF Computer, or if you are hitting the power button?

I go to start, turn off computer, then turn off. All it does is restart no matter what

 

Scan for spyware and see if that helps. Use Ad-Aware, which can be found here.

I don't know what other software you have, but if you have Roxio Easy CD, try THIS.

You can also try to TROUBLESHOOT the problem.
