    Hello :)

And a merry christmas to u all.

I have a problem with a shuttle computer that my girlfriend and I bought for her some months ago. We have been really busy, so I havent had the time to look at it.
But now I've spend almost the entire day trying to fix it. I put it together myself.

    First the spec:
    Shuttle: Shuttle XPC SB61G2 v4
Motherboard is (taken from manual): Springdale-G + ICH(Intel 82865 + 82801EB), the Shuttle comes with a 250W PSU and integrated cooling.
    Processor: Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
Graphics: Club 3D GeForce 7600 GS
Harddrive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250 GB
    DVD-burner: Samsung dvdbrænder
Ram: at the moment 512mb SDram, 184 pins

We bought the shuttle machine with motherboard, PSU and cooling in one package. And the rest was bought from different stores in Denmark.

First time we started it up, with the new gfxcard in, it crashes within the first few seconds. Then I saw that I'd forgotten to put in the extra powersuply from the PSU. But at that time, i didnt make a difference. I hadnt turned off the onboard, wasnt sure what would happen. But to make it work, I took out the extra gfxcard. Now it worked fine, and we got to install Windows XP, updated it and so on. I tried to put the gfxcard back in, and now, with the extra power in, the computer starts up, but the colors are really ****ed up. It looks like "snow" on the screen, in a lot of different colors. And u cant operate the machine, because u cant see anything.

Then I tried to put the new gfxcard in my gf's old computer, and here it works fine. I tried her old gfxcard in the new machine, and that works fine there too. Her old card is a Geforce 5200FX.

Then I thought that the new card in the new machine needed some extra PSU power, so I tried to give the gfxcard power from the old machine's PSU while starting the new machine at the same time, but that doesnt work either.

I really hope u guys can help us. It's really anoying to have this lovely machine stading around for no use at all.
If I've forgotten anything, please tell me :)

It HAS to be PSU problem. 250W can in no case support your VGA and CPU.
I didn't get that. You powered up the system with the 250 PSU and suplied the card by another? I don't know if these Shuttle PCs have built-in PSU, if not change it. A 350W should be more than enough.

What i meant was, that the gfxcard is in the shuttle. But it needs extra powersuply from the PSU. That power was taking from my gf's old computer that is right beside the shuttle. I tried to see it I could "spare" the shuttle PSU some, by getting power from the other machine. But maybe thats not posible?
Do u understand what I mean? I have some trouble explaining this in english :p Im from Denmark.

Another thing. In the shuttle, the PSU is standard 250W. A 300W PSU is like 145 dollars, because it's a special type and size.

 145$ for 300W?!!? What kind of PSU is that? Maybe the boys here can find you something better.

yeah, i know. Insane price. Its the danish price.
But shouldn't it be posible to suply the gfxcard with power from the other psu? Or does it get the most power from the motherboard?

Btw, the price for the psu, is prob. because Shuttle is the only one making them, and they are like a 3rd of the size of a normal psu.
