 When I log on to my computer I get this pop up that say "unable to write to C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\mcafee\spamkiller\mskdetct.dat." What can I do to fix this? It started a few days ago when I was trying to delete all the McAfee files from my computer.

did you try to remove McAfee from your system with its' uninstall utility or through add/remove in the control panel or did you just delete the folder containing the files?

The conventional fix is to reinstall the program, then I would reboot just to be on the safe side and then Uninstall as suggested above. If that doesn't work then I would use msconfig to dig any start instructions out of startups and then the hard part getting all the remainder out of your registry.
Regcleaner is what I use although it is no longer freeware. Regseeker (available this site as far as I know ) is also pretty good and is freeware.
Both programs save whatever is detected as superfluous as a backup for reinstall if the computer spits the dummy.
But really reinstall and uninstall properly is the best and safest option
    Hope this helps
