    Hello :)

I signed up here couple of days ago, so I'd like to say "Hello" to everyone, but I also have a question.

Reading this forum rules here: Signatures, Avatars and Profile Pictures

    It says:
I included a link to my site in my signature and that was removed and replaced by:
"Links are not allowed in signatures".

    Hmmm.....which one is it?

In the sticky thread at the top of this forum dealing with Avatars, etc., (LINK) there is this:
I guess it would depend on what your site is. :)

It's absolutely not a business site and perfectly clean (WOT - green)

    Thank you for replying :)

I do recall your nick and avatar :)
I don't think a link to another tech forum is considered good form ;)
    Cheers..

    Welcome to MGs :)

As stated, you may not post links to other tech sites, it's considered advertising or spamming and is bad form as has already been mentioned.

I always wonder, when I see “was edited or in this case “snip“-. What happened? What did I miss? Since here at MajorGeeks is a learning experience for all, let us learn. Laura when ya snip, please give a reason why, within the same post…..wobbles

Wobbles, look at the post again and you will see the reason for the edit..... it says "edited out link".

yes it does, but the "why?". Being a Moderator is hard work, did it for another forum. If I reply to a post, I think I have up to one hour to edit the post. Moderators can change history, and go back and make changes....

On MG's, you have ten minutes, IIRC. Of course, the mod's can edit at any time. But the most often used editing is probably the removal of links. It may be a link that we prefer not to allow or maybe a link to malware.

Edit: And I am guilty of not always putting in my reasons. Bad Timmy!!

You have 10 minutes to edit a post.

As Tim said, it is generally always in the post why it was edited...specifically so the poster knows.

Now don't go patting yourself on the back, Tim. :-D
