why when i update my sig, does it tell me i can only have two lines, and i've been a member for a years, admittedly dormant at times???

Signatures were recently restricted to 2 lines for everyone. Those who had longer sigs were allowed to keep them, but next time they change them they will be automatically restricted to 2 lines too.

    OK.
I've tried to change it, but the length of the lines is so ridicuolously short.
I can understand reducing line quantity, but why are they so short, it doesn't allow for much info.??

I see others with 2 long lines, which is what I would like.....

Like lev said, old members are allowed to keep a current sig longer, but any new/changed sigs are limited to 2 lines.

Yeah but i edited mine, and it now only allows one line.
I just don't understand how it works, IT ISN'T easy!!
The box to create the signature should be the same number of characters wide!

Why is this a big issue?

Answer to your question. Your sig, for example, could have been:

    Intel P4 3.0Ghz
    Foxconn 661M mobo
    onboard Graphics & Sound
    RAM: 512MB DDR
    HDDs 80&320GB
    Monitor 19" CRT
    WinXPsp2 with Trend PC-cillin

and it sounds like you had more. Now, everyone else in this thread does that, adding 8-12 lines per post and the page is now multiple scrolls. Were here to help people and found that to be very distracting to reading posts, so we limited it.

That is more or less what I had for my sig, and I agree that it is a good idea for all to only use 2 lines, thus reducing lenghts of threads.

BUT, my point now is, that it is NOT EASY to configure into 2 lines..........
    1. I can't tell no. of characters per line
    2. I can't tell where the CR is

When I try to do mine it shows 3 lines of text which ends up being one line in a post????

Perhaps a small PC icon (next to thare name or in thare sig) that either links or pops up ones specs?

    Any news....
This is really annoying me as I am trying to get my PC fixed, and I can't edit my sig satisfactorily to show my PC spec. in posts.
Why can't I add more words to it? It is obvious the two lines are not filled!

Why not just post it in the main post.. serves same purpose? ( copy PC specs into txt doc and save that way you can copy and paste when you need it )

Similar it could be damm annoying in a thread of 20+ posts to scroll past 5-10 line sigs from the 20 posters, when one lot of specs were needed in just the first post.

MA is a busy man and will get to this as soon as he can.

Halo - why have a txt file at all, when it can be in the sig?!?!?
I agree about minimising sig to 2 lines (i've already stated that), and personally i would only use it in the initial thread post, so that it isn't repeated (like here).
Note - this could even be an inbuilt feature, that if you a replying in your own thread your sig does not get repeated - how about that?

MY POINT IS, THAT THE PAGE / BOX FOR ENTERING THE SIG IS USELESS!
I can't edit my '1 and small bit of line' sig, by replacing a word with a smaller word, it still tells me it is too long!

My point is... get over it. Its a silly signature, seriously. Nobody has anything most people are interested in.
