   It's possibly me being totally dense, but is there a way to set up standard signatures for your e-mails in Thunderbird, like you can in just about every other e-mail software?

   Click on Tools > Account Settings. At the top where you see your email address clcik on that, in the window to the right you should see "attach this signature".
