I think you are probably having your wired or wireless card set to turn off when you go into sleep mode. Check power settings as well as the setting for your NIC cards.

i dont use wireless & i'v only had the new pc a week & havn't changed any settings for the network cards, i cant even find where the settings are. i dont understand why it does it on this pc & not th old one, but then i dont know how websites keep u logged in on a particular computer. its weird that i stay logged into some websites like my email but not ebay.

Have you got your browser set to delete cookies after shut-down?

arg! its signing me out while i'm using it now. i have 'MRU-Blaster' installed, would that be doing it?

I don't see why MRU blaster would do that, but since it's free, you could always uninstall it and see what happens. I prefer cCleaner myself, though it's not automatic.

IE8, on full normal install, comes with a lot of extras that I have seen block websites. Though that isn't your problem, I still think its worth trying this. Go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, and select Internet Explorer, no add-ons. If you use this, do you still get logged out while using the site?

And, if you haven't already done so, do check all of your power settings in the control panel, will vary by OS and you didn't give that.:wave:wave

yeah i use ccleaner every day, does it do th same thing then? iv set it to no add ons, but if i go into manage add ons, there is about 20 things listed under toolbars & extensions which are enabled??
i hav privicy set to medium in internet options & running ie 8 on Win xp sp3, what should my power settings be then? i did have the hard disk set to turn off after 5 minutes but i think thats how i had my old pc set & it didnt cause this problem.

Basically you login details are stored on a small fine on your computer called a cookie. These are generated each time you log in to a website and remain on the machine for a certain period of time depending on your browser, other cookie deletion programs etc.

CCleaner is one of these cookie deletion programs, and some web browsers, like Firefox, can be configured to delete all cookies when you close the browser. This will log you out of all websites.

Maybe in your case a solution such as remembering your username and password in Firefox may be an acceptable solution with less hassle than finding the cause of this. It will not keep you logged in, but you can log in with four keystrokes at the most.

And it signed you out WHILE you were actively using it? Can you describe that further?
If yes, then try booting in Safe mode with networking, (usually tapping F8 key when booting, if not, just google search safe mode for your computer brand).
    Does it still do this?:wave

it doesn't seem to log me out in safe mode, i don't use firefox because it was causing problems with the PF usage on my old pc.
basically if i log into ebay, after maybe a few hours i could go do some searches & realise i'm not logged in nemore.

That is strange but the fact this doesn't happen in normal mode would point to a security or firewall setting, I don't believe any video or sound settings would log you out of an account.

What are you using for security; AV, firewall, other real time protection?:wave:wave

i set up th new pc with comodo firewall & antivirus because i found AVG to be slowing up my old pc & it was suggested that zonealarm firewall is also resourse hungry. i havnt changed any of the default firewall settings, seems odd that it hasn't blocked 1 intrusion attempt but stops lots of outbound connection attempts when zonealarm seemed to stop hundreds.
