I am running W98se with MG's Update... and Mozilla SeaMonkey latest build for all my Internet activity...

Guarding the front-door are BlackIce, Little Firewall, Spybot, and Norton 2k....
and probably that's not good enough to keep any super hacks out.. but it's all I can find out there... and I'm careful what sites I visit, and what emails and links I click-on.. which seems to be the only way to go, to minimize the quantity of reformats...

Sometimes IE causes a popup firewall warning... That concerns me...
And I've read that there are still a lot of security holes in IE & OE...

I understand that IE and OE are crucial integral parts of the OS, and Cannot! be removed... been there, done that.. and paid the price...

Is there a keen Major Geeks Method to fully neutralize IE and OE.. so they can't function to send or recieve any data..? as in 100% sever IE's and OE's connections to the Net, ABSOLUTE & PERMANENT!.. but not so much damage that it damages the smooth snappy quick funionality of the clean OS..?

Just don't use them and use Mozilla's Firefox for browsing and Thunderbird for email and set them for default browser and email program when asked. Nothing is probably going to be 100% effective but there is better options than Microsofts browser and email client imho.

    Thanks Joe

But sometimes IE tries to just load itself.. like Dracula rising out of his box...
as if it has an important packet, to send out to the Net, which has nothing to do with my end...
I want to chop-out IE's brain.. and just leave it in the back room like the little robot it should be.. accountable to Only my commands...

Have you checked out SeaMonkey latest build?..

I didn't notice you were running Win98. You can remove Internet Explorer with a program called IEradicator. I'm not sure of where to find it on the internet but I'll try to find you a link.

I tried "Eradicator"... It Sure removed IE.. but then the removal of IE Seriously damaged the operating system... IE just can't be removed from W98.. It's part of the OS.. but it's likely that some of IE's features could be removed, so its inherent Internet abilities can't be targeted and activated by any nasties, in or out...
I just want to extract ole Drac's fangs.. and lock him up tight in his little box...
