Silicon Power Armor External Hd

I just purchased a Silicon Power external HD. I figured it would be plug and play like any other USB device. I am having some issues with it though. It is giving an Error Code: 10 on Windows, saying it won't start. I have restarted, Un/Reinstalled drivers, restarted, etc.

I have a Nextbook that I am attempting to use this with (running Windows 10). I plugged it into my office computer and it works fine on it (Windows 7). Cross checked driver from Windows 10 computer and Windows 7 computer. Drivers are the same. There are no other Windows driver updates that I can find.

This is an odd one. any suggestions? Thanks.

 

I'm still working this issue. I think I may have a solution... I found that I am running the 32 bit Windows 10 on an x64 system.

So I am updating Windows 10 to the 64 bit version. See if that fixes the issue. Otherwise, I will try updating the chipset and see what happens. Wish me luck!

It could also be a USB port compatibility issue. You may be plugging a 2.0 device into a 3.0 port which is not "backwards compatible", as it were.

I have that problem with my SATA drive adapters. They work on my ThinkPad USB 2.0 ports on the dock, but not on the laptop 3.0 ports or on the tower system board 3.0 ports.
