first of all im kinda a n00b at this computer stuff, but I do belive something is pretty effed up on my pc.

My problem is the launcher for the game will not start, hence I cannot play the game, it is an online game btw.

ok so Ive had the game installed before, (i was on a wireless network) and it worked fine, now I moved and have set up a router (with another pc, I have an adapter).
my connection is fine I get a valid ip adress i connect to my network no virus no spyware etc.

When I click on the icon to launch the game, I see the launcher window breifly then it dissapeared, I try again, this time no window pops up, no launcher, just the little hour glass, as if its getting ready to open.

I restart my pc (this usually worked if the game was being fussy) and I try again, same problem, so i decide to downlaod the game again, I update my vidoe card and downlaod directX 9.0c. I completely uninstall the game (with WinXP manager, which gets rid of all traces of the game or program being uninstalled)
I install it again, same thing happens,
So i open task manager and try to open the game again under applications it never shows, and in processes it briefly appears then its gone, as if somethign is closing it.
I set my firewall to allow silkroad to run and nothing, same problem
I turn OFF my firewall tose if that works, same thing.

I tried a couple more things not worth mentioning.

if someone could help me through this I would be most greatfull
I have no idea what to do and I am getting very frustrated

    thank you in advance

    Hi,

This may sound rediculos and stupid but i also had problem very similar to this with silkroad. The only way I resolved the problem was to turn of my firewall and make sure I had the windows XP firewall turned on (found in the control panel). Cant explain why but even with the FW turned off it wouldn't launch but with the xp fw turned on it did. Its a long shot but if you got nothing else to try then give it ago.

By the way what server you play on? a lot of the servers have been down or really busy lately. I have found it hard to connect due to traffic probs on Pacific and Babel, and when I have connected I have only lasted an hour before crashing to desktop and unable to log back in.

well i just tried it and it did the same thing again, yes i did set xp fw to accept silkroad, this problem is really ticking me off.

according to joymax most of the problem can be solved by re-downloading the client over and over and over ( untill you get a good one i guess ?). and the installing it.
ive posted my problem on their site got some help but to no avail still...
Im on xian server and look foward to playing. . . someday hopefully with somem help from ppl with more knowledge then I.
