Simple Question

Can anyone tell me why the Asus G74XS-XT1 at TigerDirect (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=637440&sku=A50-1733001) costs more than the G74SX-RH71 (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1470718&CatId=2511)?

Not trying to be sarcastic, I am just assuming I am missing something that hopefully someone else can spot. Only difference I can see is that the cheaper RH71 has a 2670QM i7 at 2.2 GHz (verses a 2630QM i7 at 2.0 GHz) and has a 750 GB HDD (verses a 500 GB HDD).

I was debating buying the RH71 all week and then I got a e-mail with the XT1 on sale for $200 off and I was excited because I thought it was the better model and could get it for less but now comparing them the RH71 seems to be the better one and, for the $100, I will still probably go with it.

Any thoughts?

 

I'm guessing that the older laptop has been in stock longer and is still at, or close to, the original price. First review July 2011, good ratings, probably keeping it a good seller, once the sales start dropping, they'll reduce it further.

 

I was thinking that but wasn't entirely sure because they are both the same G74SX model that should have came out at the same time. There is a Asus G73 laptop on TigerDirect for $2000 (I believe) in which case it is out-of-date stock and the two G74s I've mentioned before are far superior.

I realize now that one has 52 reviews and the other only 6 so that does imply that the RH71 did come out later than the XT1, so I think you're right. The first review is July 2011 for the XT1 and December 2011 for the RH71 so it is reasonable to say that the RH71 is probably 5 months newer.
