Simply No sound!

Well this is my first time hear at major geeks hope you can help me out.
My first problem is that my sound just wont work i have tried so many things like
reinstalling a driver called Plug and play software Device Enumerator no success, and other obvious ones
my pc just doesnt seem to detect any sound even with the installation c.d it came with This happened when i installed SP2 after i reformatted
