sims 2 crashing because of new drivers?

Well hey everyone to fix the last problem i had with playing a couple games i updated my ATI catalyst drivers and all seemed to work well but now whenever my girlfriend tryes to play the sims2 she only get about 30 mins of game time in before the computer just up and restarts itself now i dont have any video cooling on my system but the one side of the case IS missing so im thinkin it might not be the temperature so yeah if anyones got any thoughts as to how i might fix it all help would be GREATLY appreciated THANKS!

 

what do you mean you dont have any video cooling on your system. Does this mean your video card doesnt have a fan or doesnt need a fan. Because if it does need a fan and the fan doesnt work then there's your problem right there.

You might want to check CPU temps too, you can check those in the BIOS after using the comp for a while.

Other things to try are to go back to the older ATI drivers if they worked, or it could be a case of bad ram, try running memtest available on this site.

 

If it's XP, go to Start, Run and type in sysdm.cpl then OK.

On the Advanced tab, click Settings under StartUp and Recovery.

Under System Failure, uncheck Automatically Restart, then Apply.

That doesn't fix anything, but will stop it from restarting on every error and provide you with details to assist in troubleshooting.
