sims 2 install issue

    I am trying to install the Sims 2 on my computer. I have had the game on my computer before, however it was recently formatted, which I didn't think would make a difference. I am using Win XP pro.
    I get to the third disk when it tells me it has a problem installing a dll file. It is not a copied disk, and I have had no problems with this before. Thinking it could be scratched I used 'gameDR' on the disk and it still no longer works. Do I have to buy a new Sims2 or is there something wrong with my comp????

    Hi

    After reinstalling XP did you also update Windows to latest Service Pack and also update all your drivers (can check drivers in device manager and look for ywllow ! marks)

    Also what is the dll file its erroring on as that maybe a clue as to why?

    Yeah i have updated and reinstalled all drivers and all updates from windows. The .dll file that keeps stopping the install is Sims3Dsims07.dll, it comes from the compressed file on the disk in the TSDATA/RES/Sims 3D folder.

    The kids are so happy, I was finally able to install the sims. A bit of patience and giving the disc another clean helped. Thanks for answering though
