Sims 2 University PC Error Message

Greetings All!

Okay... this is driving me crazy!

I'm running Sims 2 University off D/L-ed ISO files. I installed Sims 2 and applied the update patch that I D/L-ed from the EA site. Didn't do anything to the game (ie. patches and/or fixes) and installed the University EP right away. Then I D/L-ed and tried two different mini-image files and I keep having the same problem...

The game loads fine, plays through the opening video with all the sims acting silly; then, just before it gets to the main options screen, an error box pops up. It doesn't say anything in the box, just says "The Sims 2 University" on top, has a big red "X", and an "OK" button. When you press the button, the game crashes back to Windows.

I'm not sure, but I think maybe there's a .dll file that I need to add and/or delete or something. Any thoughts or suggestions? I need HELP!
