Hi all! I have a Lenovo flex 5 2 in 1. Since updating firefox freezes and has an issue with loading pages. I looked to see of there were updates but there are none. I also looked up all the firefox fixes and tried them all. So I am at a stand still as how to fix this. Anyone have any ideas?

On my other Lenovo Ideapad 330 Laptop when it updated now it wont even let me put a pin in and it has no other options for a sign in so I cannot even get into that one. This windows 11 is a nightmare.

    Thanks

With problems with both upgrades are you not tempted to revert to your previous versions for a time? Win 11 is a pleasure to use on a new machine but not worth it if it's just giving you grief.

Well the one on my new laptop is okay its just that Firefox keeps freezing. My other older laptop that has the major issue. I cannot get into my computer now because of the pin problem. How do I do a factory reset if I cannot get into the computer? Here is a screen show of what I am talking about.

what happens if you click set up my pin, or is there an icon you can click on to change the way to sign in like password.

If you are past the 10 day grace period for rolling back and can't log in either you will have to reinstall Win 11 with the Media Creation Tool

I had assumed from your techy handle that you would have imaged your systems before upgrading, in which case recovery would have been quick and simple.

It has not been 10 days yet. My system said it was capable to install windows 11.

I was able to go into bios through the side there is a pinhole area that helps you to get you into the bios. I am trying to uninstall feature updates and see if that would fix the issue. I am wondering if I should repair windows 10 because it was not working right before the install of windows 11. That is if this uninstall works. So I will keep you posted on how this all goes step by step. I appreciate your help.

Yes, do everything you can to get Win 10 fault free before trying again. Certainly I would start with the system file checker - sfc /scannow as administrator - and Repair too if still showing errors. You cannot expect a system with errors to upgrade successfully.

Good news got 10 back and it is running. However it does not show battery at bottom which was an issue before and I could not get dvd drive to show up like before so yeah wondering if I should reinstall windows 10 after Scannow.

As long as your data is backed up a reinstall sounds like a good move.

Okay good news I did a clean reinstall of windows 10. Now I am just updating windows 10. The only thing which this has been an issue for awhile and it may be the motherboard but it does not detect the dvd/cd rom. It is okay I have a portable one that works. So I am wondering if I should stay on 10 now or still try and upgrade 10 windows 11?

I would image 10 now - no need to fully update it - and then try the upgrade to 11 again. You then have the choice of which to stay with.

Oh ok just saw this. Yeah there are no more updates on 10 if I do go with it is there? I would just stay with 10 if they would continue updates on it.

Hi umm It would not give me the option to update until I updated 10. Now it says I meet all the requirement for Windows 11 but it wont let me update it yet. Weird! So I have to wait for it to let me update it now I guess.

Yeah, it's safest to just wait until 11 is offered but you can just go ahead if you want, using the Media Creation Tool. Either way you really need to grab an image at this point.

There probably won't be any more feature updates for 10 but security updates will continue until some time in 2025.

Ok thank you so much. I was thinking about that. I had the 10 on my stick from awhile ago so will just erase over it then with windows 11.

That isn't an image, it's just the means to reinstall. An image creates a file with which you can reinstate your system in minutes including all updates and your software and customisation. Indispensable. You only need the free version of any of the popular imaging systems but I always use Macrium Reflect.

Yes well I did all that now there is no start button. Argh! Okay so looked online on how to solve it. They suggested to do a sfc /scannow which I started interesting this is it is taking forever!! It has been stuck on only 2%. If it is not one thing is is another.

Can you state what it is you did please? Taking an image does not make any changes at all to a system, but restoring an image obviously does. I need to understand what you have been doing.

I installed the following picture on a thumb drive windows creator 11 and then installed it on my laptop. It works great but does not have the typical start menu. Is that normal? Or in the following new way a start menu works? Look at pics

On my newer laptop Downloaded the windows 11 and the start menu is still in the corner where it use to be and then theres one below in task bar. Weird. lol So I am now sure if it is normal or not. New to 11 as you can see.

That's a normal Win 11 desktop. Taskbar icons are centered by default, not left aligned as in previous versions. You can change that in taskbar settings. Sounds like you are skipping creating an image? Bad move.

Sorry not sure what you mean by creating an image.? How do you do that? Why does my other laptop have two start buttons ?

I first mentioned imaging way back in post #5 and, as you didn't respond, I had to assume you didn't know anything about it - true as you now say. An image is a file that contains absolutely every detail of your system and which can be used at any time to revert your system to the exact state it was in when the image was created. The image file is created with an app and there are quite a few available. They mostly have a free version which will do the job perfectly well. I use and recommend Macrium Reflect and there is good support available on the Win 7, 8, 10 and 11 forums if needed, and myself of course and possibly others here. Doubtless others will recommend their favourite.

The image file can be compressed so typically requires 50-70% of the space your system is using so a 40 Gb system will typically have a 25-30 Gb image file which is best stored on an external drive though there are alternatives. Restoring an image is quite quick, typically 15 minutes but saves you hours of work.

In your case I wanted you to image 10 before upgrading to 11 as that would have given you both the choice and a safety net if upgrading should go bad. Fortunately it has not.

Can't help with the other problem -a pic might help.
