Some of you know I recently had to replace my HDD. Now, my sisters computer has issues, not sure if it's the HDD or not. I used the hddexpert to get a report, and would like you to take a look and give me your opinion. If anyone would be available to help me figure this out, I'll be around again in about an hour;) Denise

The clip of the report from HDDexpert is first snip:

    Her system is 2nd snip:

    Hi @Eldon,

I didn't understand the software very well (Seagate) but I looked through the menu after it ran the check, and found SMART check, so did that and got this result. I may have done it wrong. I use TeamViewer for remote control on my sis's puter, and her's is so slow, only about 14 mbps download speeds, if that. Here's the snip, and I may need instruction if I did the test wrong:

HDD Expert shows temperatures quite reasonable, and errors that would indicate a failing drive, in my estimation, but Seagate tool show SMART PASS......
I know it can be a pain, but I find Partition Wizard's tool will give you aa picture of damaged sectors, which can be a better indicator- download from major geeks and run the hard drive test on that - it gives you a box like aa defrag indicator, and flags up bad sectors - if this shows more than the odd one , or, two, then it would seem to be o.k but with damaged sectors a hard drive on the latest Windows from w7 /8 and w10, -

I think I'll just get her photos backed up. She has recovery media for her system, I didn't know that, so that's great! If her's goes bad and she starts getting the "warnings" like I did, I will think about replacing her hdd then. She doesn't have anything to back up, all her games are online games. It's too hard to get over there remotely, and download yet another tool. I think if it was bad, someone would have said "it's bad" back it up now, like they did with mine.

It was just a shot in the dark checking her hdd because my laptop was slow to start, restart, and way slow to shutdown normally. Meaning she and I both make sure to logout of everything first, and do the right procedures in closing, restarting etc.;)

This is an all-in-one computer too, Denise, and it likely will be more difficult to access the hard drive (it could be buried under the optical drive).

I don't think it is mdonah, but I couldn't find a video tute on one just like my sisters. I'll look if need be, but I think we are just going to not worry about it at this point as I mentioned above;)

I agree. Like you said, your sister has recovery media and she just needs to backup her important photos and other files.
We can recommend one disk utility after another and one of them will paint a bad picture.

Yes, I'm having her get a flash drive for her photos, and then if it gets worse, I can order her an HDD and take it from there. I was so glad to know she has the discs that came with the computer, etc.;) That's Win8 I think I mentioned that, and I upgraded her to 8.1 as she was offered the option. I think I can get that for her again probably since she was offered it the first time;)

Tried to download this site but it won't. Checked Speedtest.net, and I'm at 50 mbps this a.m. so I guess it's the site itself. No problem. I'll check it later today.
