skipping video

I have a 1.7 gig Pentium M and 1.5 gigs of ram, and yet I still can't get streaming video to play smoothly or at all hardly. Audio is fine but all i get on video is still image frames from random moments in the video.

I have tried many optimization suggestions including disabling unnecessary processes, resetting virtual memory, full virus and malware sweeps and reloading my browsers.

I'm desperate.

Have you tried assigning more memory to the graphics card (in the BIOS) ?

 

No, I'll go poke around, although i'm not exactly sure how.
