I'm configuring a mac G4,( 466 digital audio model), with a different drive. It was in another mac previously as the slave drive. Although it is the only drive in its new home it still shows up as a slave drive. I removed the jumper and it still says it is a slave. do I have to wipe the drive and start over? Please advise, the Artman

You say you've removed the jumper, but have you re-configured the drive to use as a master? Is it on the right connector? (ie the one furthest from the motherboard)

Thanks for the assist. Yes, I attached the drive at the last point on the ribbon. and I for the heck of it hit restart.
