I'm running a HP 725n with windows XP SP2. I have qwest dsl with msn premium and using the Actiontec DSL gateway. When the computer goes into screen saver of sleep mode and I go back to use it, I get this message saying that my network connection has "Limited or no connectivity." Its simply fixed by going into my network connections, disabling the LAN connection, and then reenabling it. But I would really like this to stop happening. Whats going on? It should be noted that if I log off my windows account the problem doesn't occur. It only occurs when I leave my windows account up and running and then leave it there and let it go into sleep mode or screen saver mode.

This is a guess since no-one else has replied:

Did this only start since something else happened/installed?
If not and it's always been like that, then I recon it could be a setting on the Network card's settings. You could:
    • go to Explorer,
    • right click on "My Network Places" and select properties
    • You should see "Local Area Connection" followed by a description of the Network card. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and select properties again
    • You get a screen "Local Area Connections properties" as a title, and your network card written under there, with a button called "Configure". Click on that.
    • Don't mess with things in this entire screen/box!
    • Click on advanced
    • What appears largely depends on what Network card you have, you could tell us whats listed in there...
    • Alternatively, if your lucky, you might find something ominously labelled, like a timeout or something etc. Whatever you do, WRITE DOWN what is WAS before you changed it, and only make ONE change at a time, then reboot. (I don't want to be the one to blame if you mess up your network connection because you tried changing things to see it it works better!! LOL, remember, basically it works at the moment...)
You may need to be logged on with adinistrative rights to access these properties.
Good luck, let us know if you find it.

Right-click my computer, Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager button, click the plus (+) next to network adapters, double-click your network card, Power Management tab, uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

    Good Luck,

    King
