Got a sleeving kit and I'm hoping to get this done today.

Wondering what is the easiest way to clear any leftover power from the PSU.

I read something about using the pwr button....

and also something about using a small wire....

    any help would be appreciated.

Ehhhh..... sleeving kit. Does this involve opening the PSU at all? If its just fiddling around with the wires that comes out of it, you're fine. However if you were poking around inside the PSU, first of all I'd suggest you didn't :p and then I'd say to put a christmas tree bulb over the terminals of the cap's to discharge it.

I wasnt gonna open the psu, just gonna pop off the molex plugs and sleeve up to the box.

when u say "put a bulb on the terminals" you mean if i was gonna open the psu right?

If I can discharge the remaining voltage by flipping the pwr button a few times, I would like to that so i can avoid looking for a wire to ground it with.

If I must stick a wire from the green pin to a black pin on the 20 pin connector, can i use any type of wire I can find?

someone here has to have done this before.

    thx goldfish

In a +12V and +5V rail there is really no danger for residual charge. The residual charge for that coil disapears in a matter of seconds. Even if there was some left over, it wouldn't be at all dangerous.

Now, if you are talking about shorting the green wire and black, then thats the same as pressing the power button on the front of the computer (not the PSU). When those two wires are shorted, I belive some sort of relay causes the main power circuit to be started, giving supply to all the rails etc.

so i can just take the PSU out and start popping the wires out?

dont quite get it, so I unplug the PSU and then hit the power button on my case? or is this even necessary?

as far as I knew you could just start doing whatever you wanted to the psu for sleeving as long as it isn't plugged into the wall and the switch is off. I sleeved my entire PSU and never got zapped.
