Im looking for "the best" SLI mobo(best performance w/o OC, non generic), i'll be pairing them with dual 7800gt's, the thing is, do the SLI mobos bring the "bridge" or do the videocards bring em?

What do you guys think of the Asus extreme N7800GT?

As far as I'm aware, the motherboard supplies the SLI bridge, if that's what you were asking.

I would stick with an ASUS board to limit any chance of incompatibility. The Asus Extreme N7800 GT is a huge card, so make sure it fits properly into any motherboard you get.

Personally, I think SLI is a waste of money, but that's subjective.

If it makes you happy, then go for it.

There is nothing wrong though with your current setup, but if you decide to go ahead with it, may I have your "old" motherboard and BFG card?

And don't worry about shipping, I'll take care of that to help you out. :p

Im not buying the 2nd 7800GT yet, but - I bought my FIRST 7800GT off a guy @ blizzCon for 250$ (he had won the raffle ticket), so its a good deal :)

I read a review on the asus card and it said they are huge like listed below. best single card preformer out of all that they had in review though.

I also have a question about sli(ill post here instead of new thread). Do the 2 cards have to be same type brand... Or can i match a 6800 bfg card later with a evga 7800gt card ?

That sounds like an OK deal.

It's a great chip, I'm just waiting for prices to come down, they're too expensive at the moment.

I thought it was good, asus extreme 7800GT goes for 410$ online, <insane price here at a retail store>

Also to tour's question, you cant mix and match, you CANT buy different versions of the same card, example an XFX and a BFG, or an Asus version 1 and an Asus version 2 etc... they have to be IDENTICAL cards.

    Oh, and i Pre-ordered the Asus a8n32 :D

Seeing as you are getting a good deal, that should make giving me your outdated hardware all the less painfull.

I generally won't take someone else's hardware, but if it helps you out, then I'm here for you.
