SLI Question

I have a xfx 7800 gtx,would a bfg 7800 gtx oc'ed work in SLI with this card?I can,t seem to find an xfx 7800 gtx,except one that they want more than what I paid for mine,about a year ago. Thanks,Tim

 

As long as the two cards have the same GPU series you should be OK. (match G70 with G70 and G73 with G73 etc.) Typically, the only downside, is that the slower of the two cards determines the overall speed. Some mother boards supports SLI-16x but in SLI share mode they split the speed to SLI-8x for each card. You'd be better off using one high speed card, in this case, rather than two. However, if your motherboard has 2 full SLI-16x slots ( mother board is SLI-32x ) then the little bit of slowdown by the slighly slower GPU won't be noticed.

Ok thanks for the response.I have an asus a8n sli premium,i wish i had gotten the x32 one your talking about,i am looking at them now,think i saw one for like $160,i paid $190 for the premium.It was my first build plus you would think a board called sli premium and being in the higher price range that it would give you full benifits of sli?O well,maby i'll start a new build with the premium board,i hate having something i paid for not getting used lol,so i,m pulled back in to spending more $ to get a working system from the premium lol, after i get the x32. You're welcome Tim. In my case, I knew the 32x boards were coming but I couldn't wait. I purchased a pair of lesser rated xfx6800 oc'd boards, to go with my 16x mobo, to tide me over until the Directx-10 compatible series of video cards were introduced. When I get the Vista OS, I'll be doing an upscale mobo build.
