Can you use 2 different video cards in an SLI setup?

    edit: for example a geforec 8800gts 320 meg with a 8000gts 640 meg?

Don't know about those two but in principle yes there are some that can be paired.

In theory, yes.... in reality, NO! Every bit of info I've ever read about SLI says that the 2 cards MUST be identical: exact same brand, model, memory, etc. I'm not sure if any permanent damage can be caused by using 2 different cards, but I'd do some more research before doing anything. Go to the video card(s) web site and check the FAQ's, tech and support pages, check the forums, whatever. But I'm 99% sure that both cards have to be exactly the same....

You need to install NVidia forceware v81.85 or higher to achieve sli with your cards. Do you have the motherboard manufacturer's bridge (MIO Device)?
