    Hi Everybody,
I was wondering if anyone might know what is to be included with an sp2 patch. I am trying to slipstream a win xp sp1 pro with the sp2 patch to make a bootable cd so that I can get on my desktop which will not open with my retail win xpsp1 pro version. I am stuck for some reason at the bootup screen. It states that I need to hit F1 to continue and I have gotten the Keyboard is locked out unlock the key message and my keyboard will not work. I have a wireless logitech MX3200 and I have tried two different PS2 KB's all with the same result.
I am following the BartPE tutorial from ubcd4win.com/ and I am also looking at MSFN.org site reached via DriverPacks.net. I am trying to take my time and do it right. Well things are going according to teh site until I open WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe (network install version). I looked at the dir and found that I had a laptop folder in the sp2 download. I'm not sure if this is just a standard part of the download or if it happened because I used my laptop to download and open the file. I don't know if I should just delete it or if I should put it in the slip and go on from there.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.
    thanks much,
    cal

    Hi

I would get Autostreamer http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4444.html and install this, as it makes the job of slipstreaming very easy, you will need a valid XP SP1 cd as in the original, an OEM restore CD will not work.

Then Download the XP Sp2 Network install files http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&displaylang=en ( only get from this source to be sure its 100% real, dont get from any unknown sites )

Once Autostreamer run, choose "I want to use my original CD" pop your XP SP1 disk in the drive and click Next > you will see the below,

    http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/4240/35024112yh9.jpg

E: is where CD drive XP original disk is in, then click the Magnifying Glass icon at the end of the Service Pack File line and browse for the location of where you downloaded WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe

Leave the temp folder as is and click NEXT and any other prompts shown, then you will end up with a merged SP1 and SP2 ISO file, as below.

    Click Finish.

You will then need to burn the ISO file to CD, you can do this via Nero or the free CDBurnerXP burning apps, I really do prefer CDBurnerXP.

To burn an ISO with CDBurnerXP, just install the app and run, at the first box click Create Data CD/DVD > pop a blank CD in the drive and click:

File > Burn Disk from ISO File.....

Then you get the above box, click the [...] icon I circled and browse for the saved ISO file, this will be in your root C: drive location, choose the same options in the above picture I have chosen.

Then click Burn disk and at end you should have a slipstreamed XP SP2 CD.

I have used AutoStreamer myself, and Halo's step-by-step is spot on! One note however; if you use the newest CDBurnerXP (version 4), you'll be required to install Microsoft's .NET Framework, version 2.0 or newer. If you already have it installed, then no big deal. (check Add/Remove Programs). If it's not installed and you don't want to install it for whatever reason, you can burn ISO images with a number of free utilities. Here's some links:
    BurnAware http://www.majorgeeks.com/BurnAware_Free_Edition_d5839.html (my personal favorite!)
    BurnAtOnce http://www.majorgeeks.com/burnatonce_d3992.html
    Deep Burner http://www.majorgeeks.com/DeepBurner_Free_d4055.html
    EASYBurning http://www.majorgeeks.com/EASY_Burning_d5392.html
    Easy ISO http://www.majorgeeks.com/EasyISO_d2499.html
ImgBurn http://www.majorgeeks.com/ImgBurn_d4870.html (no list of ISO burning apps is complete without ImgBurn!)
... I could keep listing programs fo quite some time, but those above are more than enough choices. There's a bunch more in the Back Up downloads section here at Major Geeks. Another really cool ISO tool is called "ISO Recorder". It integrates into the Windows XP context menu (also called the Windows shell or the 'right-click menu') and when you right click on a folder or file or drive (like a CD drive with a disc in it), you can choose to create an ISO image from the target. Additionally, you can use ISO Recorder to burn an existing ISO image, or burn the image you just created. VERY convenient to have it in a right-click menu. Anyway, here's the link if anyone gives a :crap

I've probably just confused the situation by providing too many choices here  If you have Nero, use it. If not, go with BurnAware or ImgBurn.... or.....
