Hi, I'm even slower on my guitar than I am on the PC. I've received various advertisements about software to slow down instructional music lessons. These claim to work with youtube videos and DVDs. One I may drop my dime on is called 'Slow-Mo Director' by Mike Herberts. Anyone know if this actually works well. Or, is there good FREE software that I can use to slow down youtube videos and some DVD's that I already own?

    Thanks

    Steven

VLC Player can do slow motion using the + and - keys.

You would have to save the YouTube video to your machine first before viewing with VLC.

Thanks for the info. Will this work with a couple of instructional DVDs I already own - would I have to save the DVD to my PC as '?' extension/type of file before I could use this?

I'm not sure if I overestimated my ability or the instructor overestimated his when I bought these guitar instructional videos, but they're too fast for me.

    No, VLC can play dvds.

I downloaded VLC, guess it just can't play my 2 DVDs. Keep getting this ingenious, 'check the log' gibberish. Searched the VLC site and can't even find out how to get to the freaking log. Did find where one of the VLC 'authors' piously mentioned something about 'clueless users'. Guess that is where I fit. I'll try again in a few days after I finish our monthly Accts Closing, then delete if it still doesn't read my DVDs. If I were a major geek, I wouldn't have written in for help. Guess The Master race at VLC is why computer whizzes get labeled geeks, eh? At this rate, it will be more efficient to buy software...

Nah, it's just a little strange why VLC doesn't play your dvds. This lends me to believe that possibly something else is wrong with your machine. Maybe post the OS that you use.

Also do your dvds play ok using a different player? (such as Windows Media Player)

It's usually a little difficult to analyze your machine when it's not available "in person".
