Sloppy Housekeeping

I'm in need of some help and didn't know for sure where to post. Here's my problem:

Ya know how, when ya uninstall some programs, not all of the components are uninstalled...I've not been good at keeping a clean XP. Now I'm getting warning dialogue boxes on startup for a program I though I'd completely uninstalled. What a mess I've made of things. I'm scared to death to even download a registry cleaner for fear that I'll do something wrong. Anybody have any words of wisdom for me?

Here is great registry cleaner ( TweakNow ), Free, very simple to use, very safe, easy to install.
Install it run, delete all safe to delete items:

If you have not properly uninstall previous programs etc. the registry cleaner will not clean up files left over, it will clean up the registry.

You can manually uninstall left over files & program remnent's, just go to Start/Search, type in file or program name, windows will locate all files, then just right click on em and Delete em.
If you have problems deleting any then try within safe mode.
Some programs have uninstall utility's that can be downloaded from the manufacture.

If you have problem with a particular program post it, someone will help you with it.

 

If Asus's app doesnt work try
run>msconfig>startupitems>uncheck the old program.

 

msconfig is a trouble-shooting tool and should not be used to remove left over remnants or permanently disable startup programs.
